Express route to ACCA qualifications for QIUP Accounting students

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed between Quest International University Perak (QIUP) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Malaysia today will facilitate student support in their professional development and careers in accounting.

Signing the MoA on behalf of QIUP at a signing ceremony at QIUP campus in Ipoh were Mr. Nicholas Goh, Chief Operating Officer witnessed by Prof. Dr Abdul Latif Salleh, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Management & Social Sciences. Senior Manager, Business Development of ACCA Malaysia Mr. Vincent Hah signed on behalf of ACCA Malaysia witnessed by Mr. Ivan Tan, Manager, Business Development.

Also present were Mr. Peter Gabriel, Manager of Business Development of ACCA Malaysia, and senior management, deans, deputy deans, heads of departments, academic staff and students of QIUP.

QIUP Accounting students now enjoy an 8 paper exemption from the ACCA professional qualification and this agreement facilitates access to ACCA professional qualifications before they graduate.

In his speech during the ceremony, Mr. Nicholas Goh said the MoA is a testament to the quality of the University’s Accounting programme.

“QIUP has undergone rigorous assessment to ensure that our Accounting programme ranks among the best and the recognition given to us today by ACCA who sets even higher standards when offering an institution to join the ACCA Accelerate Scheme is indeed a testament of our quality,” he said.

Mr. Vincent Hah stressed that the benefits of obtaining dual qualifications from QIUP and ACCA will go a long way in helping students be marketable in the future.

“The ACCA qualification is recognised in more than 180 countries worldwide and QIUP students have this opportunity now to embark on an internationally recognised qualification which will see them be employable in almost every country around the globe,” he said.

QIUP’s Accounting students will benefit from exemption accreditation by the largest international accounting body. Students who wish to pursue a professional accountancy qualification on completion of their academic studies are now able to obtain an accelerated route to ACCA membership.

ACCA is the global professional accounting body offering the Chartered Certified Accountant qualification. Headquartered in London it is one of the world’s most influential and largest accounting professional bodies with 178,000 members and 455,000 students in 180 nations.
