Elite Medical, Legal Experts Featured At Faculty Of Medicine’s CME Talk

As part of QIU’s continuous efforts to always complement classroom teaching with real-world happenings, the  Faculty of Medicine (FOM) recently featured three elite speakers in the latest of its illuminating Continuous Medical Education (CME) series.

The speakers included Dr Lim Chong Hee, a  leading cardiothoracic surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. Besides his clinical work, Dr Lim is a senior lecturer and an adjunct associate professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. He also lectures at regional and international conferences.

The second speaker was Dr Lau Boon Kwang, a doctor in Bedok North, Singapore with nearly three decades of experience in the field. Dr Lau practices at YSL Bedok Clinic & Surgery Pte Ltd in Bedok North, Singapore and Dr B K Lau Aesthetic & Laser Clinic Pte Ltd in Aljunied, Singapore. He is also a member of the Singapore Medical Council.

Rounding off the esteemed panel was legal expert Mr Zaheer Merchant, who is also QI Group Director for Corporate and Legal Affairs, and Director for Education.

Dr Lim spoke on minimally invasive thoracic surgery, while Dr Lau delivered a talk on medical entrepreneurship. The final talk was given by Mr Zaheer, who spoke about the latest legal developments in modern medicine.

QIU’s latest CME continued the University’s tradition of successful and beneficial events – catalysing a vibrant dialogue and exchange of ideas between the worlds of academia and industry.

This is anything but a one-off, as similar events have also been organised by all of the University’s faculties. Recent examples include The Faculty of Business and Management’s 1st Conference of Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship 2019, which featured five of Malaysia’s top entrepreneurs and marketers.

QIU would like to express our appreciation to the esteemed speakers and the Faculty of Medicine for making the event a success and continuing our tradition of bridging the gap between academics and industry.
