Research that creates meaningful impact begins with a willingness to explore new ideas, ask important questions and pursue solutions to real-world challenges.
This spirit of research and innovation continues to flourish at QIU, with two groups of academics recently securing research grants to support projects spanning healthcare, emotional intelligence, zakat management and community empowerment.
Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Associate Professor Dr Ng Yen Ping, has been awarded the Exploratory and Transformative (GET) Grant 2026.
The grant will support his research project, titled “Exploring the Validity of Methods Used in Estimating Area Under the Curve (24 Hours) of Vancomycin in Haemodynamically Stable Patients.”
The study focuses on exploring the validity of methods used to estimate the 24-hour area under the curve of vancomycin, contributing to the broader understanding of medication monitoring and the optimisation of treatment approaches.
The achievement is complemented by another research success from the Faculty of Business and Management, where a team of five academics has been awarded a Geran Penyelidikan Jangka Pendek (Short-Term Research Grant) from the Faizuddin Centre of Educational Excellence (FCoEE).
Titled “Integrasi Holistik Kecerdasan Emosi (EI) dalam Sistem Zakat: Analisis Prestasi Amil dan Pembinaan Database untuk Pemberdayaan Asnaf di Negeri Perlis.”
The project is led by Ts. Dr Abdul Ghafur Hanafi, with Dr Aervina binti Misron, Ms Faezah binti Mohamed Yusoff, Ms Fadhilah binti Shahabuddin and Dr Nurul Atikah binti Kamaruddin serving as co-researchers.
The study seeks to explore the integration of emotional intelligence within the zakat system in Perlis.
Together, the two grants reflect the breadth of research taking place across QIU, with academics tackling questions that extend from clinical practice and healthcare to social development and community empowerment.
Research excellence has long been an important part of QIU’s academic mission, with its researchers pursuing projects that generate new knowledge while addressing challenges that matter to society.
These latest achievements are a testament to the dedication, academic rigour and commitment of QIU’s researchers to pursuing impactful work and turning knowledge into meaningful outcomes.
QIU congratulates all the grant recipients and wishes them every success as they embark on these important research projects.
