A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Quest International University Perak (QIUP) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Malaysia today will facilitate student support in their professional development and careers in accounting.
Signing the MOU on behalf of QIUP at a signing ceremony at QIUP campus in Ipoh were Mr. Nicholas Goh, Chief Operating Officer witnessed by Prof. Dr Abdul Latif Salleh, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Management & Social Sciences. Country Manager for CIMA Malaysia, Ms. Ginny Lim signed on behalf of CIMA Malaysia witnessed by Mr. Rushdan Rozlan, Associate Specialist, Business Development
Also present were senior management, deans, deputy deans, heads of departments, academic staff and students of QIUP.
Under this MOU, the Bachelor of Accounting undergraduates will enjoy a six paper exemption and the Diploma in Accounting undergraduates will enjoy a three paper exemption from the CIMA professional examinations. This agreement also facilitates the Diploma students to only sit for one paper to obtain the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting.
In his speech during the ceremony, Mr. Nicholas Goh said the MOU is a testament to the quality of the University’s Accounting programme.
“QIUP has undergone rigorous assessment to ensure that our Accounting programme ranks among the best and the recognition given to us today by CIMA who sets even higher standards when offering an institution paper exemptions is indeed a testament of our quality,” he said.
Ms. Ginny Lim stressed that the benefits of obtaining dual qualifications from QIUP and CIMA will go a long way in helping students be marketable in the future.
“The CIMA qualification is recognised globally and QIUP students have this opportunity now to embark on an internationally recognised qualification which will see them be employable in almost every country around the globe,” she said.
