QIU Continues Hot Streak at Latest MTE Awards

QIU academics and student innovators from the Faculty of Computing and Engineering (FCE) and the Faculty of Integrated Life Sciences (FILS) continued their winning ways at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) by bagging four more awards.

All QIU participants received honours for their innovations, in the process bringing home three silvers and a bronze award. The university thus proudly maintained its 100 per cent track record of triumphs for the sixth consecutive MTE. These wins also raised our tally to a spectacular 68 awards in only three years of competing.

They were contestants at the 2nd SDG International Innovation Awards held virtually from October 17-21, 2022. The competition featured 186 shortlisted entries from Hong Kong, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, China, the UK, the US, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Iran and Malaysia. Among the local representatives were Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.

The SDG International Innovation Awards encourage the development of local solutions to local challenges. They recognise innovations, initiatives, programmes, and ideas that contribute to sustainability, poverty eradication, improved well-being, protecting our planet, and building peace and prosperity.

Here are our award winners:

Our hearts swell with pride for the QIU academics and students who emerged victorious at MTE, both for their wins and the nature of their innovations. Their work can help millions across the globe and make the world a better place.

Likewise, their efforts align with the university’s unwavering commitment to helping society, while also reducing the alarming effects of climate change by contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Kudos to the winners and everyone at QIU who worked tirelessly to make these wins possible!
