Excellent outing for QIUP at the 2017 National English Olympics

Quest International University Perak’s students from the Debate/Communications Club did the University proud when they clinched podium finishes in three categories at the recent 2017 National English Olympics (NEO17) competition held at Universiti Teknologi Petronas.

In the story telling competition, Sahibzada Mubashir Noor was crowned champion and winner of the gold medal after he mesmerized the judges and the crowd with his awesome skills. In the speech competition, Kajel Gill and Jasdeep Singh clinched 1st runner-up silver medal and 2’nd runner-up bronze medal titles respectively. While in the creative writing competition, Monissha Thiagu clinched the 2nd runner-up bronze medallist title.

QIUP were crowned as 1st runner-up in the overall Institutional championship. It was indeed a momentous day at the 2017 National English Olympics competition with so many wins for QIUP.

The NEO17 is the first and the only English Olympics competition involving high schools and undergraduate students in Malaysia. Every delegate who won in each field of AEO accumulated points for their institution to be crowned the as the Institutional Champion. There were 5 fields of competition, namely Speech, Story Telling, Spelling Bee, Creative Writing, and Video Making. NEO17 provides the chance for students to compete in a national-scaled competition.

The theme for NEO17 is “Live Your Aspiration” and this convey the message for Malaysian youths to be driven and more motivated for the high willingness to aspire both learning and triumph.

A special vote of thanks to Mr. Raj Gopal Dronamraju from the communications department for coaching and preparing the students for the competition.

Kudos to the QIUP team and we look forward to more similar wins in the future.
