FST Lecturer Ranked in Kotex M’sia’s ‘100 Superwomen’ List

She was the first Malaysian named to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC)’s ‘Periodic Table of Younger Chemists’. She was the founder of the social media hashtag #scientistscanwearmakeuptoo.

And now, Faculty of Science and Technology lecturer Ts. Dr Magaret Sivapragasam has notched up another groundbreaking accolade, as she was listed in Kotex Malaysia’s ‘She Universe’ – a celebration of 100 amazing Malaysian Superwomen!

The digital series, which you can check out here on Facebook and Instagram, shines the spotlight on these incredible ladies and the stories that made them into the inspirations they are today.

Dr Magaret, who is also Head of QIU’s Foundation in Science programme is joined by fellow trailblazers in a multitude of industries and disciplines – medicine, sports, entertainment, art, science, activism, women’s rights…the list goes on and on!

So how does she feel about this honour?

“I am truly humbled to be one of the 100 unstoppable women! This is such a wonderful initiative, and the hope is that we can inspire the next generation of female groundbreakers,” she said.

“Talking about periods, menstruation and menopause has always been a taboo. Many even cringe at the mere usage of the word “period” itself!”

“Thank you Kotex Malaysia for breaking boundaries and celebrating these amazing Malaysian superwomen! Truly, period or not, she can!”

All of us in the QIU family are incredibly proud of you Dr Magaret. Congratulations and keep being an inspiration!
