Industry Day Connects Students and Public to Professionals

Students of Quest International University Perak (QIUP) as well as the public had the opportunity to meet with reputable companies under one roof at the University’s Industry Day which was held at its campus in Ipoh, recently.

The objective of this event was to present undergraduates with exciting career opportunities and provide industry partners an opportunity to introduce their company to students.

Additionally, the event was also part of the University’s commitment to give back to the community whereby it provided a platform for the public, especially those seeking employment, to meet with reputable companies from Perak.

Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Nicholas Goh in welcoming everyone, stressed the need to address the factors that contribute towards unemployment among our youths.

“Mismatch between skills required for jobs and skills level of graduates, increasing critical selection process due to cautious business sentiments and the education system which focuses on academic papers rather than industry skills requirement are the major contributing factors towards the increasing unemployment rate among our youths.

“It is with this in mind that QIUP strongly believes in Industry Academia collaboration where we work with the relevant industries to understand what type of skills they look for in their workforce and we train our graduates to meet their talent needs.

“QIUP will be adopting an industry based approached education system, ready to partner the industry to develop skilful workforce. This will be a win-win situation for all as it will result in absorption of skilful manpower and reduce the hiring and training cost for industry.” Mr Goh added.

The day long event saw participating companies set up booths at the venue to disseminate information to attendees and conduct on the spot interviews. Besides, there were also career talks given by the companies.
