QIUP paper selected to be presented at Sustainable Seminar 2018

Quest International University Perak (QIUP) participated in the recent Sustainability Seminar 2018 : Towards Sustainable Society which was organised by University Malaysia Sabah, Tokushima University, Japan and Jose Rizal University, Philippines in collaboration with Journal of BIMP – EAGA regional development.

This year’s seminar saw 3 keynote speeches and 22 selected working papers being presented which was attended by 95 renowned academics from Malaysia, Japan and Philippines.

Associate Professor Dr. Sofiah Kadar Khan from the Faculty of Business and Management of QIUP was an invited speaker and presented on the topic Sustainability  of Academics Occupational Commitment in the Workplace : The Importance of Supportive Culture.

Dr. Sofiah was also the visiting scholar at University Malaysia Sabah for two weeks attached to the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy. During her tenure in University Malaysia Sabah she presented a lecture on History of Management Thoughts. She also had the opportunity to be invited as a speaker to their TERAS students where she spoke on the topic of Occupational Commitment.

Moving forward, this has created the  opportunity for QIUP and UMS academic staff to collaborate on research related to sustainability issues and to participate in future conferences. This will also allow University of Malaysia Sabah’s academic staff to visit QIUP as visiting scholars to provide more exposure to  QIUP students.

The objectives of the Sustainable Seminar 2018 was to have an academic discourse on sustainability issues, which is a global concern. The seminar featured papers by academicians of various departments from the organising universities and several other Institutions and industry practitioners. The selected papers discussed a number of areas in the field of sustainability including agriculture, poverty, social design, innovation, commercialisation, sustainable campuses, community participation and livelihood.
