Perak Exco: QIU Carnival Empowers State’s Youth with Educational Opportunities

The second stop of QIU’s education carnival arrived in Taiping, bringing a diverse range of education pathways to SPM and STPM leavers across Perak and beyond.

Just like the inaugural event in Ipoh, it featured fun, insightful, and interactive activities that helped attendees understand the different pathways available to them—regardless of their qualifications and career goals.

After the Ipoh curtain-raiser, we raised the stakes further by inviting Perak state education, higher education, youth and sports executive committee chairman YB Khairudin Hanipah to officiate the launch of our two-day event.

During his speech, YB Khairudin urged students to grab this opportunity, underlining how important it was for them to talk to the deans, academics, and students to get an insight into university life.

“Many students are searching for the right pathway after sitting for their SPM or STPM examinations. QIU has come to you, bringing their educational facilities. Other institutions may carry out their events at venues that are less comfortable, but QIU has an impressive set-up with sophisticated attractions,” he said.

“Not all students get this opportunity. Seize the chance to plan your direction after getting your qualifications.”

YB Khairudin hoped the talent in Perak would use their skills to contribute to the development of the state, lauding the collaborations between QIU and district education offices to avoid the ‘brain drain’ phenomenon.

“Vocational programmes, including those offered by QIU are extremely important to local industry players. We need development, and who better to do it than the children of Perak herself?”

After Ipoh and Taiping, the ‘Dream Bigger’ educational carnival will head to Teluk Intan and Seri Manjung. Activities will include virtual and drone exhibitions, health screenings, and demonstrations of medical procedures like stitching, blood typing and venepuncture.  Academics and counsellors will also be on hand to provide guidance on the wide range of options available.
