The QIU Eagles Hockey team has done us all proud yet again, after they finished a strong third in this year’s TNB-MSN SUPER-QUEST-MBI Perak Hockey League 2019.
The Eagles navigated a challenging group stage with ease, heading to the semifinals on top of their group with a 100 per cent record.
In last Saturday’s semifinals, our boys were desperately unlucky to lose 4-2 on penalties to eventual champions Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO).
The dreaded shootout came after both sides fought out a 0-0 draw in normal time.
But before they could run out for the third-place playoff last Sunday, the Eagles were named second runners-up after another finalist was disqualified from the tournament.
Overall, our team displayed skill, effort and sportsmanship throughout the tournament, and ranking in the top 3 of the state’s best hockey teams is no mean feat.
Congratulations to our mighty Eagles on their achievement! We’re certain that they will be launching another push for a championship soon!
