To launch e-Q with a bang, we’re searching for the best writing and vlogging talent among our awesome students. We’re giving you the chance to win up to RM 75 in the 1st Annual e-Q writing/video competition. By the way, it’s FREE!

Update: Based on student feedback, we have merged the sports category with opinion. But don’t worry, we’ve added ANOTHER category specifically for you photographers! Read on!

CATEGORIES

Opinion

Here’s where you get the chance to express your opinion on the issues that are important to you. We’re looking for a minimum of 300 words of well-argued thoughts on any topic – social issues, the environment, sports, the list is endless.

Fiction (Short Stories/Poetry)

Sometimes, the real world is just boring. We’re looking for promising fiction writers, and who knows, you could be the next J.K Rowling or George R.R. Martin. Again, try to make it above 300 words.

Food Reviews

Ipoh is famed for its amazing food. With so much excellent cuisine around here, we’d love to hear your reviews of some of your favourite places to eat. It could be bubble tea, nasi kandar, or even the hipster cafes around here. Go out with your friends, take some pictures of what you eat, and let us know what you like/dislike. This could also be in video format if you like.

Photo Essays

Many of you are excellent photographers, as your social media accounts prove. We’re looking for a collection of 5-6 of your best photos that tell us a story.

The photographs should be captioned properly and fit the theme of your essay. Please combine them in a document, and also send them in separately as .jpg files.

Music/TV/Film Review

On that note, we also want to read your reviews of today’s latest music, movies, and TV series. Maybe you have thoughts on the latest Marvel or DC flick, a popular Korean drama, or Kendrick Lamar’s latest album – we want to read what you think.

Videos/vlogs

Nowadays, we understand that not everyone likes to write. A lot of people prefer to create videos instead, so we’re giving you the chance to do so. You can create food reviews, music/film/ and TV series reviews, or any other interesting vlogs. However, try to keep it short and sweet.

Besides giving the winners cash prizes, we’ll also be featuring the work we like on e-q.online, where everyone can enjoy them FOREVER. We also want you to join our e-Q team of writers, so you can continue showcasing your talents throughout your time at QIU!
