Thrills and Teamwork: QIU Students Celebrate Hostel Day

by Doh Yoke Xing

Students from Quest International University (QIU) transformed Ipoh’s Alpine Village apartments into a celebration of unity and community spirit during a Hostel Day event held recently.

Organized by the Quest Student Representative Council, the event aimed to foster camaraderie among the university’s diverse student body with an evening filled with engaging activities and team-building exercises.

The day featured engaging activities designed to increase teamwork and mutual understanding among participants. Bangladeshi international student Raihan shared his perspective on the event:

“The Hostel Day was a fun-filled activity day that brought the students together. As an international student, I’ve noticed differences in unity and camaraderie between students here and back home. This event helped bridge that gap, bringing everyone closer,” he highlighted.

Event director Mohd Shameen Khan, also a QIU hosteller, spoke about the planning and organisation that went into making the event a success:

“We brainstormed many ideas and incorporated feedback from QIU students, especially the hostellers of Alpine. Our goal was to create an event where everyone felt included and satisfied,” he explained.

Ensuring inclusivity was a priority for the QSRC. By gathering feedback and adapting the plans, they made sure the event catered to everyone’s expectations while maintaining proper SOPs and upholding the university’s image. Initially exclusive to hostel residents, the event was later opened to all students following popular demand.

The event’s highlights included a thrilling treasure hunt and various station games that encouraged teamwork and problem-solving.

“The participation and engagement from students were very active. Our vision to foster unity among QIU students was achieved. Hostel Day is more than just an event; it’s an idea that symbolises the strength and unity of QIU students standing together,” added Shameen.
