As Chairman of the Digital Technology Implementation Committee in the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, Mr Steven Chong enlightened us on the changes brought about by the 4th Industrial Revolution in the world of accounting. With the advent of artificial intelligence (AI) in accounting, future accounts must learn how to harness it for enhanced decision making. Alongside this ability to understand and capitalize on technology, Mr Chong espoused the enhancement of human skills among future accountants – soft skills, critical thinking, communication and adaptability – in the aim of retaining the human touch in the profession.
