Professor Dr Wang Hui

Adjunct Professor from Nanjing Normal University of Special Education

Professor Dr Wang Hui graduated from the Department of Special Education in the Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University in 1990, making her one of the first undergraduate degree holders in Special Education in China. Currently, she serves as a member of the Academic Committee at Nanjing Normal University for Special Education.

Qualifications:

  • 2013–2017 | Doctorate from the Institute of Special Education, Beijing Normal University.
  • 2003–2004 | Visiting Scholar at the Central Institute of Educational Science.
  • 1986–1990 | Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Beijing Normal University.

  • 2018–2019 | Director of the Research Center for the Development of the Cause of Disabled Persons, Nanjing Normal University for Special Education.

  • 2014–2016 | Executive Deputy Chief Editor of the ‘Modern Special Education’ Editorial Department and Director of the Child Developmental Disorders Research Center, Nanjing Special Education Vocational Technical College.

Professor Dr Wang Hui has taught a variety of professional courses, including:

  • Diagnostic and Evaluative Studies of Children with Special Needs
  • Of the above, ‘Behaviour Modification Techniques’ and ‘Diagnostic and Evaluative Studies of Children with Special Needs are provincial and institutional-quality courses led by the instructor. ‘Sensory Perception Training for Children with Special Needs’ is the only professional course offered in similar majors nationwide.

Awards, Research Projects, and Achievements

Professor Dr Wang Hui has won more than twenty teaching and research awards at the national and provincial levels, including two national and five provincial teaching achievement awards. She has edited three national and Jiangsu Province-quality textbooks, and two key textbooks for Jiangsu Province’s colleges and universities.

She has developed three sets of developmental assessment tools, including assessment tools for students with special needs in regular schools. She has led/participated in more than twenty national and provincial-level research projects, such as ‘Research on Curriculum Construction in Special Education Schools under the Background of Inclusive Education’.

She has published over 60 papers in journals such as ‘Educational Research’ and ‘Chinese Special Education’. She has also authored/edited 19 books and textbooks, including:

  • Diagnostic and Evaluative Studies of Children with Special Needs
  • Behaviour Modification Techniques
  • Sensory Perception Training for Children with Special Needs
  • Behavioural Management of Children with Special Needs
  • Curriculum Outline for Compulsory Education for the Intellectually Disabled
  • Assessment Manual for Compulsory Education for the Intellectually Disabled
  • Curriculum Assessment Tools for Students with Special Needs in Regular Schools (Grades 1-6) and has participated in compiling several dictionaries and books.
