Dr. Mahaletchumy Arujanan

Klang-born Dr. Mahaletchumy Arujanan played a significant role in cultivating interest in science especially to the younger generations. She was listed as 100 most influential people in the field of Biotechnology by the 7th edition of The Scientific American Worldwide View: A Global Biotechnology Perspective Journal in 2015. She also initiated the country’s first science newspaper ‘The Petri Dish’ that engaged the public on the latest development in Biotechnology.

Malaysian Biotechnology Information Centre (MABIC

The Malaysian Biotechnology Information Centre (MABIC) is the first and only NGO that promotes biotechnology in Malaysia and enjoys excellent working relationships with ministries, government agencies, research institutes, universities, trade organisations, embassies and high commissions, media, industry and farmer organisations. MABIC’s mission is to provide scientifically accurate and fact-based resources to all stakeholders and support the government’s efforts in developing the biotechnology sector.

Science communication, food and energy security, Climate change mitigation, alleviation of poverty among farmers and sustainable development.
