After An Emergency

It can be difficult to deal with the aftermath of an emergency. Speaking to a professional can be incredibly helpful in the recovery process.

If you need to speak to someone, reach out to our counsellor at kavitha.nallamuthu@qiu.edu.my or contact the Student Life Division.

Tips on Dealing with Critical Situations

  • It is normal to feel shaken, nervous, and emotional after an incident. It will take time to adjust and recover. Give yourself time.
  • Try to keep up your daily activities: classes, work, sports, and recreation. Speak to family and friends regularly. Remember that you are not alone.
  • Similarly, check in with others who may be going through a similar situation. A simple conversation may help. Let them know you are there.
  • Minimise/avoid the use of alcohol and drugs. It may appear to provide short-term relief, but it can cause problems for recovery.
