Programme Level

QIU’s Doctor of Philosophy in Education programme is designed to help candidates to develop their academic professionalism and leadership skills. By joining this programme, candidates will be able to strengthen their intellectual growth, specialization, and the pursuit of groundbreaking research in the education field. This programme is suitable for educators, leaders, and professionals from various industries.

  1. A masters degree in the field of or related fields accepted by the University Senate, OR
  2. Other qualifications equivalent to a masters degree recognised by the Government of Malaysia
  3. Candidates without a related qualification in the field/s or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the University

Pre-requisite Courses:

  1. Philosophy of Education
  2. Educational Psychology
  3. Sociology of Education

A Bachelor degree with the following conditions:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with first-class honours and show evidence of related research aptitude to the satisfaction of the Senate; OR
  2. Undergo internal assessment; AND
  3. Any other requirements of the University

Bachelor’s degree candidates who are registered for master degree programme may apply to convert to the doctoral degree programs subjected to the following conditions:

  1. Within 1 year for full time and within 2 years for part time candidates;
  2. Having shown competency and capabilities in conducting research in doctoral-level through rigorous internal evaluation by the University; AND
  3. Approval of the University Senate.

 

English Language Proficiency Requirements

International Students:

IELTS Academic: 5.5 / MUET Band 4 or its equivalent
