This issue explores the interdisciplinary nexus of education, special needs, communication, and applied linguistics, offering empirical and conceptual studies that illuminate innovative strategies for supporting diverse learners. The collection features research on family engagement in communication interventions for children with autism, the efficacy of assistive technologies for students with hearing impairments, and the deployment of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems to enhance expressive language development. It also examines inclusive pedagogical approaches to bolster literacy among learners with learning disabilities, the potential of digital storytelling to support emotional and social growth in children with speech delays, and the development of a gamified mobile application for fostering social communication skills in students with special needs. From a linguistic standpoint, the issue foregrounds the role of language acquisition processes, multimodal communication, and the adaptive use of linguistic resources within special education contexts. Together, these contributions advance scholarly discourse on inclusive education, applied linguistics, and the enhancement of communicative competence among learners with complex needs.
