This course provides the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to work effectively as a community pharmacy assistant. The course is designed to help participants develop an understanding of etiologies of common diseases, the indications and instructions of selected non-prescription medicines and health supplements, the basic principles of pharmacy practice and the legal as well as ethical considerations involved in the dispensing of medication

  1. Recall the functions of key organs in the human body.
  2. Identify the risk factors and etiologies for common diseases.
  3. Explain the indication(s), dosage, direction of use, and time point to refer to a pharmacist for various non-prescription medications and various health supplements commonly found at community pharmacies.
  4. Display competency in carer protocol
  5. Demonstrate communication skills essential for community pharmacy assistants.
