Welcome to Centre for Research and Innovation @ QIU

Centre for Stem Cell Research (CSCR)

Overview

The centre for stem cell research is at the forefront of innovative research and advancements in the field of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. Our mission is to harness the remarkable potential of umbilical cord stem cells to revolutionise healthcare and contribute to the betterment of human lives.

The research centre welcomes industry projects on preclinical optimization related to preventive diseases and regenerative medicine. The project focuses primarily on the scientific basis of product efficacy, consistency, safety evaluation and scale-up formulation. The centre also takes on other research interest areas such as generation of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines, differentiation of iPSC to various hematopoietic cell lineages or mesenchymal stem cells, evaluation of compounds secreted by stem cells.

  1.  Basic Research:
  • Conduct fundamental research to understand the properties, behavior, and potential applications of umbilical cord stem cells.
  • Investigate the mechanisms of differentiation, self-renewal, and interaction with other cells.
  1. Therapeutic Development:
  • Explore the potential of umbilical cord stem cells in developing innovative therapies for a range of medical conditions, including degenerative diseases, injuries, and genetic disorders.
  • Work towards the creation of practical, scalable treatments that can be translated to clinical settings.
  1. Collaborative Partnerships:
  • Collaborate with other research institutions, universities, medical centres, and industry partners to leverage collective expertise and resources.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaborations to drive innovation and accelerate research progress.
