The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) has opened applications for the Exploratory and Transformative Research Grant (GET) 2026 under Dana Kelestarian Penyelidikan.
- General Application Requirements
This grant is open to full-time academic staff (Professors, Associate Professors, Senior Lecturers, and Lecturers) who meet the following criteria:- Open to both Malaysian and Non-Malaysian citizens holding permanent or contract positions
- Applicants must have a minimum oftwo (2) years of remaining service at the institution, calculated from the application closing date.
- Must include at least one (1) Malaysian permanent academic staffmember from the same institution and discipline. This individual shall serve as a Co-Researcher and the designated successor/alternate Project Leader.
- The research team (including the PI and all collaborators) shall not exceed a maximum of five (5) members.
- Applicants who have previously secured JPT (Department of Higher Education) grants are eligible only if all prior projects, including specified KPIs, are formally completed and verifiedby the Research Management Centre (RMC).
- Applicants must ensure their Institutional Researcher Profileis comprehensive and up-to-date. (including Personal Information, Projects, Publications, Intellectual Property, Supervision, Teaching, Consultation, and Community Service), verified by RMC before submission.

This grant honours the legacy of the late Dr Ranjeet Bhagwan Singh, whose contributions have significantly advanced medical and biomedical sciences in Malaysia. The RBS Medical Research Trust Fund, managed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and implemented by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), aims to encourage and support research in these fields.

- FULBRIGHT MALAYSIAN SCHOLAR PROGRAM
Qualified Malaysian scholars (Ph.D.) to undertake 3-6 months of research/lecturing at American universities during the FY2024/2025 academic year (September through May) through the Fulbright Malaysia Scholar Program. This program provides opportunities for Malaysian academics to develop or update their research through interacting with distinguished counterparts in the United States. By providing a mechanism and support for meeting and interacting with the best American scholars, the program seeks to promote dialogue on subjects of mutual interest to Malaysia and the United States.

The National Cancer Council (MAKNA) had intiated MAKNA Cancer Research Grant in 2011. The grant aims to promote cancer research among young scientists in advancing knowledge that is geared towards helping cancer patients and discovering potential cures for the disease.

- The MRC Industry Linkage Fund is a funding programme for the Malaysian rubber products industry to collaborate with universities and research institutions on research projects which have the potential to increase Malaysia’s exports of rubber products and enhance the industry’s competitiveness in the global market place.
- The MRC Industry Linkage Fund provides a platform for the industry to leverage on the strengths and expertise of public and private universities in Malaysia, as well as Malaysian research institutes to undertake market-driven research which will benefit the industry in terms of innovation as well as research and development (R&D).
- The programme aims to strengthen rubber – university/research institution linkages in Malaysia for the development of the rubber products industry.

The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) is inviting proposal submissions for Public-Private Research Grant Network 2.0 (PPRN 2.0). PPRN 2.0 is an initiative of MOHE to foster strategic cooperation between industry and academia, with the support of the Ministry and other government agencies, to increase productivity and strengthen economic growth through matching grants for innovative projects that are demand-driven and have commercial potential.
SCOPE:
- Product Innovation: to improve or add value to existing products, especially industry-based technology or towards certification.
- Process Innovation: to improve the production process products, source components; warehouse; logistics; method of delivery or services to coordinate as well as make it more efficient and effective in line with the development of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (The Fourth Industrial Revolution – IR 4.0).

2) Researchers must update and complete their “Researcher profile” in MyGRANTS and verify it by the Centre for Research and Innovation before submitting the grant applications.

TeD 1 aims to produce and develop the concepts related to technology design, processes or products that have the potential to be commercialised. The proposed project should be at least at the formulation stage, that is a plan or design for the production of a technology process or new product to be commercialised. The result of this project is a prototype technology, process or product to be used by society, and industry.Quantum and project duration: RM1,000,000 and 24 months
Technology Readiness Level: TRL 2 – 4 - TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT FUND 2 (TED 2)
Technology Development Fund 2(TeD 2) is open to researchers and companies interested in implementing research and development projects (R&D) for continuing the concepts development related to technology design, processes or products towards commercialisation to reduce valley of death.Quantum and project duration: RM3,000,000 and 36 month
Technology Readiness Level: TRL 4 – 7 - BRIDGING FUND (BGF)
Bridging fund is reducing the valley of death between the pre-phase commercialization to commercialisation and increase the technology readiness level of R&D products to penetrate the market.Quantum and project duration: RM4,000,000 and 36 months
Technology Readiness Level: TRL 7 – 9. - STRATEGIC RESEARCH FUND (SRF)
- A top-down initiative for the development of strategic technology and innovation leading toward commercialisation and solving peoples’ problems through the Malaysia Grand Challenge.
- Project leader who is a Malaysian can involve project members from the International organisation or expatriates working in the same institution ORProject leader can be a non-Malaysian provided the work permit is valid throughout the period of project implementation and project members must be Malaysians with the same field of expertise and from the same institution.

The Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI) has opened the application for Strategic Research Fund (SRF)- Healthtech. SRF is a funding programme within DANA PEMACU MOSTI specifically to fund strategic research and top-down initiative based on priority areas and in line with Dasar Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi Negara (“DSTIN”), 10-10 MySTIE and MOSTI’s technology roadmap. This programme provides a platform for Prototyping and Viability Testing that converts R&D outputs from ideation into tangible prototypes that are ready to be tested in the real environment.
Deadline: 1 October 2023- 15 November 2023
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Priority area: Healthtech, Dronetech & Agritech.
- The product is at TRL 3 – 5.
- Requires funding to build the prototype (at least at TRL 7).
- Has demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed product (POC).
- Establish collaboration with industry.
EXPECTED OUTCOME
- Development of MVP/Prototype (at least at TRL 7).
- Publication, applicable for Institute of Higher Learning (HIL) applicants only.
Funding scope: Maximum RM2 million. For HIL, 100% Grant

The Newton-Ungku Omar Fund in-country team is based at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur and is responsible for:
- Representing UK delivery partners and UK government’s interests in funder-to-funder/government-to-government discussions

The Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) is inviting applications for the Prof. Yoo Hang Kim Young Women Scientists Award 2026.
This award aims to support early-career women scientists in STEM to attend and present their research at an AASSA-recognised international scientific conference or meeting. Each award is valued at up to USD 2,000.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must:
- Be a young woman scientist in STEM (preferably within five years of receiving a PhD)
- Have experience presenting original research at international conferences or publications in reputable journals
- Provide proof of acceptance to present at an AASSA-recognised conference

- Conference acceptance letter (national or international conference, preferably international), for either oral or poster presentation (preferably oral)
- If the acceptance letter is not yet available, please attach proof of abstract submission. Once the acceptance letter is received, the applicant is required to email it to bia@akademisains.gov.my.

The purpose of this program is to engage in short-term collaborative projects/programmes of up to three months, at an internationally-recognised host institution in select disciplines. By having the attachment, it aims to help the recipient build on his or her expertise by undergoing a learning experience in an institution or organisation of international repute, and improving the Grantee’s body of work and achievements.
ELIGIBILITY
- For academics, a Master or equivalent professional degree at the time of application.
- Qualified citizens of Malaysia, aged 22 – 35, residing in Malaysia or overseas
- Currently working/studying in the following discipline/ field:
- Education and Community/Social Work
- Environment
- Health, Science and Technology
- Sports
- Arts
- This grant is looking for those who are currently working on research or are carrying out any project and want to gain experience from international experts in the related field.
- To avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest, staff of the Merdeka Award’s Founding Members – PETRONAS and Shell, and their immediate families is ineligible for the Grant.

VALUE OF THE GRANT
- The value of the Grant varies, depending on the proposed institution of study and the related costs that come with it. There is no fixed amount. However, the Merdeka Award operates as a trust and its funds need to be expended responsibly for the maximum benefit of Malaysia and Malaysians.
- Selected recipients will be awarded full tuition fees, as well as accommodation and travel fully covered for the duration of the short-term replacement of up to three months, upon acceptance by the chosen institution.
