Associate Professor Dr Paulin PL Wong is Deputy Head of the School of Hospitality, Faculty of Business and Management, Quest International University. Dr Wong obtained her PhD in Tourism (2018) and a bachelor’s degree with First Class (Hons) from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). With 16 years of experiences working in hotels, gaming, events and the F&B industry; and teaching at secondary and tertiary level academic institutions, Dr Wong is a travel enthusiast academic who sees the world from the eyes of those forming the basis of a destination and she cannot imagine a destination without ‘seeing’ the host community. She passionately continues her research and publication in advocating for the understanding of place meanings, especially among host community in tourism destinations. Her other research interest includes other Place studies, sustainable tourism, community-based tourism, and rural tourism.
Delving in the world of interpretive paradigms and extending the pursuit of qualitative methods, she has been a member of the executive committee since 2022 and is currently the Secretary II of the Qualitative Research Association Malaysia (QRAM). Dr Wong is also the Associate Editor of the Journal of Social Sciences and Business (JSSB) as well as the reviewer for the Malaysian Journal of Qualitative Research.
