Welcome to Centre for Research and Innovation @ QIU

Pantai Hospital Ipoh Research Day 2026

The participation of the Centre for Stem Cell Research (CSCR), Quest International
University (QIU), in the Pantai Hospital Ipoh Research Day 2026 on 23 June 2026 marked
an important milestone in strengthening academic–clinical research collaborations and
advancing translational cancer research in Malaysia.

Representing CSCR, the Centre Director, Dr. Koh Cai Ping, presented the centre’s first
collaborative stem cell research project with Pantai Hospital Ipoh, highlighting QIU’s growing
expertise in stem cell biology and cancer immunotherapy. The presentation featured the
establishment of cord-derived hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) and mesenchymal stem cell
(MSC) platforms for generating cytotoxic innate lymphoid cell type 3 (ILC3)-like cells, with
promising potential for anti-colorectal cancer therapy.

Beyond showcasing the research findings, the event provided an excellent platform to
enhance the visibility of QIU’s expertise and capabilities in advanced cell-based therapeutic
research. The study demonstrated the University’s capacity to develop HSCs, MSCs, and
ILC3-like cells, reinforcing its commitment to advancing innovative immunotherapy research.
The event also underscored CSCR’s role as a dynamic and rapidly growing research centre
committed to innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and meaningful engagement with
healthcare institutions. Through strategic partnerships with hospitals and clinicians, CSCR
continues to bridge the gap between laboratory discoveries and clinical applications, paving
the way for future translational research initiatives and improved patient outcomes.
