General conference details
1) When will the conference take place? Where is it located?
The conference will be held from 4th to 5th December, 2021 via an online Zoom platform.
2) What is the conference about?
The SEMB conference is aimed at uniting key stakeholders (educators, parents, specialists, and the industry) to engage in meaningful conversation about the future of our children and how we can embrace and empower children with special needs. Spanning four distinct themes, our objective is to raise awareness and share best practices from multiple perspectives in order to provide optimal physical, mental, emotional and educational support to our special children.
3) Who should attend this conference?
- Special Needs Education Principals, Administrators and Teachers;
- Early Childhood Education Teachers and Administrators;
- Ministry of Education Officials;
- Teachers from all Educational Environments (including Inclusive Education);
- Non-governmental organizations staff;
- Parents;
- Members of the Public interested in this area.
4) What do I do if I need to cancel or pull out from the conference? Is the fee refundable?
Paid registration/abstract submission/sponsorship/exhibition fees are non-refundable. However, conference materials will be available for 30 days after the conference.

For participants
1) How can I register? What are the registration rates?
You can register via our RegFox. Please head on over to the page using this link https://qiu.edu.my/semb/registration/. For further information on deadlines, rates and further registration information, please check our conference website (https://qiu.edu.my/semb/key-dates/).
2) What can I get out of this conference?
Besides the wealth of knowledge that you can get from our panel of experts, you will be sent an e-certificate of participation within 14 working days after the event has concluded.
3) Will the sessions be recorded? Can I get a copy of the recordings to watch later?
Many of our sessions will be pre-recorded. For sessions that will be conducted live, they will also be recorded. All the recordings will be available for 30-day viewing access after the conference ends on the Whova conference platform.
For presenters
1) I’m interested in presenting at the conference. Where can I submit my abstract?
You may submit your abstracts to semb_papers@qiu.edu.my and our Academic, Scientific and Technical Committee will receive and review your submission.
2) I have submitted my abstract. When can I expect to receive feedback?
Upon submission of the abstract, the Academic and Technical Committee will review your submission and feedback will be given within 4 weeks.
3) My abstract is accepted. What are the rates for presenters and how do I make payment?
Kindly check our conference website (https://qiu.edu.my/semb/key-dates/) for detailed information on submission and registration deadlines, early bird offers, presenter rates and other information. The link for payment will be provided in the notification email.
4) Where can I receive guidelines for my pre-recorded presentation?
All oral, poster, and workshop presenters will receive a link to a page with information for session presenters and presentation schedule. The information can also be accessed at (https://qiu.edu.my/semb/call-for-submissions/presentation-guidelines).
5) I have completed my video recording. Where do I submit it?
All presenters will receive submission instructions in the abstract acceptance email. The information can also be accessed at (https://qiu.edu.my/semb/call-for-submissions/presentation-guidelines).
6) Will my presentation video be published online?
All pre-recorded sessions will be shared via our conference platform for Day 1 and Day 2 .Kindly refer to the schedule if there are any sessions you would like to attend or watch. Live sessions will be shared after the conference and made available to conference participants here.
