The Master of Education programme is designed for educators, leaders and professionals from various industries who wish to obtain a post-graduate qualification in the field of education. The programme is designed to prepare candidates to meet the demands of 21st century education, and offers the degree in three areas of specialisation:

  • E -learning
  • Educational Management
  • Learning and Development
Specialization OfferedE-learning

The e-Learning programme is designed for learners or professionals who wish to pursue careers in teaching and learning through the use of technology tools and the Internet of Things (IOT).

It is designed to give graduates the up-to-date skills and knowledge sought by employers engaged in the use of digital technologies in teaching and learning.

Students taking this specialisation will gain an in-depth understanding of:

  • e-Learning Ecologies
  • Curriculum Design and Development
  • Trends, Issues, and Challenges in e-Learning
Educational Management

The programme provides a solid foundation in some of the key strategic and international management issues confronting organisations today.

Candidates for this specialisation include:

  • School principals
  • Vice-principals,

  • University lecturers,

  • Individuals in leadership positions at learning institutions

Within industries, workplaces, and organisations, employees are expected to engage in life-long learning and ongoing improvements through continuing professional development practices.

This programme aims to provide a rigorous understanding of current learning and development, education and training issues, challenges and leadership values in different professional contexts

Its specific goal is to drive mentoring and coaching, innovative training and assessment and design practices to an advanced level.

Bachelors’ DegreeBachelor’s Degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 out of 4.00 or equivalent qualifications as accepted by the Senate;


Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualifications without the minimum CGPA of 2.50 out of 4.00 can be accepted – subject to the applicant having at least 5 years of working experience in the relevant field;


Applicants without the minimum entry requirement above can apply through APEL (A).

The following conditions applies:

  1. All applicants are subject to appropriate APEL assessments conducted by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
  2. Only Malaysian nationals can apply for the APEL (A) provision.
Pre-requisiteCandidates without the relevant qualifications in education must complete the courses below prior to commencing their candidature on the M.Ed. programme.

The courses will be provided via a blended mode of study for a duration of 7 weeks.

  • Philosophy of Education (MED 1013, 3 credits)
  • Educational Psychology (MED 1023, 3 credits)
  • Sociology of Education (MED 1033, 3 credits)
