Programme Level

The Bachelor of Accountancy programme at QIU is enriched by three vital specialisations: Forensic Accounting, Taxation, and Financial Technology (FinTech). This enhanced structure is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills to excel in a world shaped by Industry Revolution 5.0 (IR 5.0). Our goal is to develop future-ready graduates with competencies in technology, analytical thinking, ethical decision-making, adaptability, and innovation.

A key highlight of the updated programme is the 8-month internship, which is aligned with industry standards and allows students to engage in meaningful projects. This hands-on experience bridges theory with practice, providing invaluable exposure to real-world challenges.

We aim to empower graduates to excel in traditional accounting and emerging areas such as forensic analysis, tax strategy, and financial technologies. The curriculum is tailored to meet the standards of leading professional bodies, including MIA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA (Australia), and MICPA. This ensures our graduates are well-prepared for diverse career paths in accounting and finance, including opportunities with the “Big Four” firms.

Specialisations

The Taxation specialisation offers deep insights into tax laws, compliance, and strategic tax planning. It covers both local and international tax frameworks, enabling students to navigate complex regulations confidently. Key areas of focus include corporate tax planning, personal taxation, GST/SST, and tax advisory services. Through practical case studies, students will gain the skills necessary to deliver effective tax solutions, ensure compliance, and optimise business strategies within dynamic regulatory environments.

In the Forensic Accounting specialisation, students learn to detect financial fraud and misconduct using investigative and analytical tools. This field blends accounting, auditing, and legal knowledge to address financial crimes, with a focus on fraud detection, forensic auditing, litigation support, and dispute resolution. Students will gain hands-on experience in data analysis, digital forensics, and investigative techniques, equipping them to manage complex investigations and uphold ethical standards.

QIU is only the second private university in Malaysia to offer a forensic accounting specialisation.

The FinTech specialisation merges finance with cutting-edge technologies such as Blockchain and Cryptocurrency, driving transformation in the financial industry. Students will develop skills in data analytics, digital tools, Big Data, visual analytics, cybersecurity, and Robo Auditing. With practical training, students will be prepared to leverage emerging technologies and address evolving challenges in the financial world.

QIU is also the second private university in Malaysia to introduce a FinTech specialisation within the Bachelor of Accounting programme.
