QIU is proud to announce that another trailblazing learning innovation has captured the spotlight, after a team representing the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Centre of Research & Innovation recently won a bronze medal at the ULUL ALBAB Innovation Competition Exhibition at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The team of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tilagavati Subramaniam<\/a> (team leader), Dr Ruuhina binti Mohd Sani<\/a>, Noor Eleena Nordin<\/a>, and Shamanee Murthi<\/a> created the AR Phonics<\/strong> research project, which showcased an innovative approach to teaching phonics using Augmented Reality (AR) technology for children with speech delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Competing institutions included Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Malaya (UM), IPG Raja Melewar, Politeknik Jeli Kelantan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (Indonesia), and Universiti Malaysia Pahang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The project drew plaudits for its method of using interactive and immersive AR experiences to create a more engaging learning environment that directly addresses speech development needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This achievement highlights QIU\u2019s commitment to advancing educational practices for children with special needs, marking the team\u2019s second recognition in the competition for a similar innovation adapted for a new lesson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last month, four academics bagged the champion title for \u201cBest Exhibitor Award\u201d at the Intervarsity Corporate-Academia Symposium (ICAS\u201924) & Pedagogy Innovators Showcase Competition (PISC<\/strong><\/a>), hosted by Sunway University.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The championship team comprised the Faculty of Social Sciences\u2019 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tilagavati Subramaniam <\/a>(team leader), Assoc.
